Only one sing-a-long this Thanksgiving week

Tuesday's 10am sing at Nunu Chocolates Cafe & Tap Room is my only one this week. Wednesday at Elk, Thursday at Dean Street, and Friday at Lark are all canceled due to the Thanksgiving break.

I'll be back at all my regular sing-a-longs next week. And Saturday, December 5th, is my next Sing-a-long History event at Brooklyn Historical Society. It's a holiday sing-a-long featuring Christmas carols, Hanukkah songs, tunes from Lebanon, Kenya, and France, and new songs inspired by your holiday stories. Go to my PERFORMANCES page for more details on this show.

Flying Newspaper Issue 28 needs your artwork

This year in the Flying Newspaper I'm going to be asking you to draw pictures of cool things that you see. You can draw them right onto the newsletter.

I want to see what you draw! Send your pictures to lloydhmiller AT gmail DOT com. Here are some good ways to capture your drawings digitally:

- in an iPhone picture OR

- even better in an iPad picture OR

- if your drawing is plain black and white, use CamScanner or another scanning app to make a nice clean copy

No Knitting Factory Sing-a-long Weds, July 15

No sing-a-long tomorrow, Weds, July 15. The sing on Friday, July 17th will happen as usual. Wednesday sings will resume Weds, July 22.

In case you didn't know: all my sing-a-longs are being covered by wonderful friends of mine during July and August. I'll return to all / most of my regular events in September. I always add or subtract an event or two each fall.

Missing me?

- Check out my YouTube channel. I'm always putting new videos up there.

- Set up a live video singalong with me via FaceTime, Tango, Skype, or another medium of futuristic communication. Only $25 for a 25-minute sing-a-long. Invite some friends over for an all-request Lloyd show.

- Listen to my new podcast. Sing-a-long History with Lloyd H. Miller is on iTunes as of last week. It's mostly for older kids (elementary and up), parents, and educators, but I know kids of all ages are already listening. I think you'll like it. I play songs from songs from my albums, play other songs live, and get deep into the stories behind the songs I sing.

See you soon!

Hey Middlebury, VT, ukulelers (and friends around the country joining our class virtually):

Here's a PDF with all the songs from Classes One and Two.

Note: this guide is for educational purposes only. It's supplementary material to a free ukulele class at a local library.

Also: here's the playlist where I'll continue to add videos related to our class.

And soon I'll put up PDFs to accompany these lessons. They should be up (right here on this blog) sometime this week.

Episode I of Sing-a-long History: The Podcast

I'm still tinkering with where to house the RSS feed and all that technical podcast stuff but I just can't wait for you to hear the first episode of Sing-a-long History: The Podcast. I play songs from the new Civil War record, talk about the stories behind them, then play other related songs live. It's fun, it's info-packed, it's me doing what I love. Check it out.

And as soon as I have it up on iTunes for subscription I'll let you know.

Jazzy Ash guest stars at my Williamsburg sing-a-long this week

Don't miss my Wednesday sing-a-long at the Knitting Factory this week. Jazzy Ash, an incredible singer and performer for families specializing in New Orleans-style jazz, is to be my special guest.

This is Jazzy's only NYC performance on this East Coast swing. She lives all the way out in a place called Los Angeles so this is a rare opportunity to catch her. We'll be making this week's sing more of concert -- I'll be playing my upright bass, Jazzy will have her uke, and we're going to turn that room into a real party. Rest up!

As usual, the sing-a-long is at 11am. The Knitting Factory is at 361 Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg. bk.knittingfactory.com

Big kids welcome today at all my sing-a-longs this week

Tomorrow I'm at Lark. Two sings at 10 and 11. Bring everybody!

No Knit sing-a-long today, Feb 18

Just a reminder that there's no sing-a-long at the Knitting Factory today, February 18th.

Occasionally we get bumped last-minute for a big-ticket event or rental. It's a bummer but part of the deal with this one venue because they're letting me use the space when the business is officially.

All my other sing-a-longs are very much ON. See you at Dean Street tomorrow or Lark on Friday.

I'm in Portland this week

I'm visiting beautiful Portland, Oregon this week and playing shows with a bunch of local artists. This morning I played with Dan Elliott AKA Pointed Man Band at Warehouse Cafe. This afternoon at 5, Dan is going to play with me again at Mississippi Pizza where Matt Lynch AKA Tallullah's Daddy has graciously asked me to join his gig.

Also:
- Wednesday I'm gonna play with Red Yarn at Village Ballroom
- Friday Mo Phillips and I are jamming at Treehouse Boutique
- Saturday I'm the featured artist at Lil' Lentils.

Yeah, it's a busy week here in the Pacific Northwest. Full schedule, addresses, websites, etc. here: http://lloydhmiller.com/calendar/

Btw, all my regular Brooklyn sing-a-longs are going on as usual with some great subs. Thanks, Chris Johnson (of The Deedle Deedle Dees), Hopalong Andrew, Lucy Kalantari, and Heidi Siegell for helping me out!

Knit is on!

Today's sing-a-long at the Knitting Factory is on. 11am. I'll be there by 10:45 -- or maybe even earlier --so you don't have to wait in the cold.

Check my Twitter (at right) or my Facebook for this week's newsletter. I'll have it up on this blog by tonight.
