The album is called Sing-a-long History, Vol II: The Rocket Went Up! It's the second installment in my Sing-a-long History series, a collection of albums that tell stories from history using music. The first volume, Sing-a-long History, Vol I: Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!, came out last year. It's an introduction to the Civil War era featuring me backed up by a raucous jazz band performing songs from the 1800s as well as original tunes inspired by stories of the time.
Sing-a-long History, Vol II: The Rocket Went Up! is a record of all original songs drawn from the history of science, discovery, and magic. The title track celebrates female astronauts. There are songs about marathon swimmer Diana Nyad, computer programmer Ada Lovelace, Charles Darwin, and Harry Houdini. And all sorts of other stories in song that we can't wait for you to hear.
You can buy the album right now here. You can also find it on iTunes and other download services.
Brooklyn CD release concert: October 22nd at Jalopy Theatre and School of Music at 3pm.
